Service With A Smile

Providing service for someone's wedding is a big deal. This is one of the biggest day's in a person's life, and one of the biggest days of the couple's life. A day they'll look back on forever.

Its important to keep this in mind when providing service for someone on such a day that it is a happy time, and to not let little things angry. It bleeds through to other people, and creates a bad mood.

The band recently was performing at a wedding, where a venue representative was less than friendly with the band. She wasn't outright rude, but I could tell she was tired and/or frustrated with something, and it came through to me. This was one of the first people I made contact with that day, so it started putting a negative spin on things for me right away.

I kept my composure, worked with her politely, and went about and did band business as we do best. While I could have challenged her on her attitude, why bother? It would make a bigger deal of it, could catch the attention of the guests, and just not be worth it.

For those of you providing service for weddings on a regular basis, I'm sure you've encountered similar experiences, and would guess if you've been dealing with it for a while, you treat it the same way I do. After all, it is not our day to cause problems.
